Shoulder and neck markings

Shoulder and neck bars can be confused with the dark patches found on sooty, or countershaded, horses.  Try to look at a lot of each to see if you can find the difference, or you will not be able to use it as a test for "dun-ness" of a horse.

Se a slideshow of one horse's dun markings here:

Sassy transverse striping 11-03-03.JPG (70807 bytes) Sassy, a dun owned by Haas Quarter Horses
Shoulder_and_dorsal.jpg (408135 bytes) Marjena Bass' dun QH stallion, Go Copper Glo.
ladybug_neck.jpg (114678 bytes) Ladybug's neck doesn't have visible markings, and her shoulder marking is more like fine striping than barring.
